Government receives bids of Rs 1.01 trillion at the end of ninth day of spectrum auctions

March 14, 2015

The government has received cumulative bids of Rs 1,014.23 billion at the end of the ninth day of the ongoing spectrum auctions, marginally lower than the previous day.

At the end of 55th round on the ninth day, about 87 per cent of the spectrum on sale had been provisionally allocated. The total bid level declined as steep prices in the 900 MHz band forced operators to reduce the amount of spectrum they were vying for, leaving some spectrum unsold.

The maximum bids were received for Punjab circle in the 900 MHz band, while Tamil Nadu circle saw maximum demand in the 1800 MHz band. In the 800 MHz spectrum band, Northeast and Haryana circles witnessed high bidding activity. Meanwhile, the low demand was witnessed for spectrum in all circles in the 2100 MHz band.
